Summer School - Online/Hybrid

The course will be held online but 3 participation options are available for certain individuals:

Option 1 - online.

Option 2 - hybrid. Due to massive and continuous vaccination in Russia and resuming international air and railway service with 29 countries we offer a hybrid online/on-campus summer school option to students holding citizenship of:

the United Kingdom, Tanzania, Turkey, Switzerland, Egypt, Maldives, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Korea, Cuba, Serbia, Japan, the Seychelles, Ethiopia, Vietnam, India, Qatar, Finland, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Greece, Singapore, Venezuela, Germany, Syria, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka.

You can join the online course for 270 euro (+4000 Rub for reg. fee) but come to St. Petersburg to take touristic advantages for the duration of the program and attend online classes at your dormitory/hostel.

Option 3 – tailor-made. We may also arrange a tailor-made on-campus program for a group of minimum 10 students holding nationality of the countries Russia resumed international air and railway service with.

During this program you will obtain or improve the key communication skills in Russian language, feel confident about using them in a variety of contexts and form your own understanding of the Russian mentality through Literature and Art.

The program is open to the students with any level of Russian language, including absolute beginners.

Duration: 2 weeks

ECTS credits (total): 4.0*

*The students who are interested in achieving better progress in Russian language or receiving more credits can combine this program with any other module in Russian Studies.

  • Course description

    Russian Language : 2 ECTS

    Levels available: A0-C1. The program is open for the students of all levels, including absolute beginners.

    The classes are conducted by experts in the field of Russian as a foreign language.

    You will obtain or improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills; learn how to use the language in real life situations and start understanding the native speakers better.

    The students are divided into small groups according to their levels and get a lot of personal teacher’s attention during the classes.

    Russian Literature: 1 ECTS.

    The course explains and analyzes the main trends in Russian literature development, covering the lives, literary activities and works of the remarkable Russian writers. The lectures focus on the problems emphasized in the Russian literature and their connection with those of modern society. Correlations with historical & cultural life of St.Petersburg.

    History of the Russian Art: 1 ECTS.

    The course provides an overview of the progress of Russian art from XI up to XXI century in a historical context, acquaints the students with principal trends of Russian art and architecture, the formation of different styles and the creations of the most remarkable Russian artists

  • Entrance requirements
    • - Good command of English language
    • - Knowledge of the Russian language is not obligatory: the students with any level are welcome for participation.

Participation fee:

Online format: 270 Euro

Hybrid format: 270 Euro + 4000 Rub (non-refundable registration fee for the Letter of Invitation)

Participation fee includes tuition fee, study materials, field trips and cultural program.

Upon successful completion of the course students will receive hard copies of certificates with ECTS credits (mailed by post in case of the online format of the Summer School).

    Online format:*

    • - Online Interactive Russian Culture & Traditions event
    • - Online broadcasting of excursion to the Hermitage museum
    • - Online Interactive Campus Tour

    Cultural program in the Hybrid format is discussed with participants individually.

    *All of the listed above activities are planned to take place but in case any of those will have to be cancelled, an alternative event will be offered to participants.


Provided only for the Hybrid or the Tailor-made formats:

  • on campus at the university dormitory
  • accommodation in host Russian families

Details of the options and booking procedures will be discussed with each applicant individually.
